welcoming with open arms

Scratch my last post about avoiding fall fashion. I'm ready to embrace the transition into late summer. It's still steamy hot with cool breezes during the day, but nighttime brings on a wave of chilly. Reminds me a little too much of fall, but sleeping with the windows open aids for better shut-eye. September issues of all your favorite magazines, fall previews in your favorite stores, the urge to throw on a sweater at dusk... embrace it!

It's hard to define what "season" mid-summer is. All the summer collections are heavily on sale (yay for us), but only a quarter of the fall collections are in stores, most of them just on display (boo for us). You have all your summer clothes, but are looking for pieces to nod toward the upcoming season. Don't get me wrong- spring/summer fashion gets me hyped up, but there's something about fall/winter fashion that helps us all reestablish our love.

I've been gathering inspirations for transitioning into the new season. For fall, you just have more clothes to play with, and that's what I love! The stores I'm really inspired by right now include J. Crew (classic-with-a-twist layering), Juicy Couture (avant garde girly-girl), Abercrombie & Fitch (casual cool), Anthropologie (romantic pieces), and my new favorite store Aritzia (designer cool-girl). Since traveling to Chicago and NYC this summer, I'm inspired by the city life and everyone in it. You can dress in the craziest outfit and look right in place. But I enjoy the casualness of small-town, country life. Dressing simply, like every day is the weekend.

The computer I use has a yucky virus (again), so sorry I haven't been updating. I'll post about my short trip to NYC as soon as I can. In the meantime, I really want my own laptop... it'd be so much easier to blog with. What do you reccomend- Mac or PC?

XXX. I'm on vacation this week!
